Fireflight is a truly talented Christian band, and their new album 'Unbreakable' is headed to the store shelves within the next couple weeks. Fireflight is everything that I had hoped would be, Paramore but Riot cannot hold a candle to 'Unbreakable.'
With some very notable exceptions, female fronted rock groups haven't exactly been a dominate force in the music industry, even less so when you limit the sample pool to Christian bands. I don't mean for that to be a sexist comment, it's just a statistical fact. Fireflight is one of the few bands that I've felt could be a dominating force in the Christian music industry, and the release of 'Unbreakable' is just going to solidify their position in my mind.
The title track, 'Unbreakable,' has been on the radio a few weeks now, and seems to be getting positive responses. The track is a simple Christian power anthem, but it is incredibly enjoyable. The band just rocks, the writing is great, it's not over or under produced. Fireflight and/or their management made a great decision in choosing it as the lead single.
'You Gave Me A Promise' is another good one on a CD that has no bad ones. Very melodic, this is one that has been stuck in my head for the past few days. I've been whistling it, humming, but never singing it. I live with people, people that don't deserve to be forced to hear my 'singing' voice. If there is a negative with 'Unbreakable,' it's that all the songs have a very similar sound. If you like 'Unbreakable' (the track), you'll like the rest of it as well. If not, you may want to skip on 'Unbreakable' the disc. As far as my recommendation goes, Fireflight gets it in spades. Great band, great sound, great message. Buy it!
